His mercies are new everyday.

It’s hard to believe I have been here for two weeks already! This week looked a lot different than last week, but God is faithful nonetheless. The ministry has tasked me with creating a bunch of new webpages and social media content for the ministry which has taken up a lot of time, but I love doing it. I constantly have to remind myself why I am here, and what I am doing all of this for: to serve the Lord and his people.

This week that has looked like serving the missionaries here specifically and helping them do things that they don’t have the time to do. Yesterday I was tasked with setting up and entire photoshoot for all of the missionaries at New Hope which was something I have never done before but it went really well!

Something random that happened this week was that we had a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit us on Sunday. It lasted about 15 seconds which is FOREVER in earthquake time, but we weren’t at the center of it and the people that were weren’t injured which is amazing. So thank you Jesus & I’ll cross that one off my bucket list.

I still was able to go out into the harvest this week which was amazing, and is my favorite part of life here. We met with three families so far this week, all of whom are in really tough places in their lives but rely upon the Lord for everything. One family in particular has experienced so much hardship and loss in the last five years. Their kids have experienced things kids should never have to go through, and their mom is now a single mother supporting her two kids since their dad passed away last year.

On Tuesday we got to celebrate her son Tony’s birthday, which he was sad to celebrate because it had been once year since his father passed away. We encouraged him and brought him a cake, but it was heartbreaking watching him try to celebrate a day that caused him so much hurt last year. The Lord is doing a new thing in their family, and their mom is finally able to buy bricks to replace the tin sheet walls they have now. Our prayer is that their family continues to follow Jesus and rely upon him!
